With the use of beads, paper, thread, and other textiles sourced from her immediate environment, Susan has hand-crafted delicate items including paintings, earrings, bracelets, sculptures, panels, stuffed animals, pendants, and clothing items. For years, Ms. Brown donated unsold items to local domestic violence shelters and hospitals and taught crochet classes to fellow artists.
Drawing inspiration from African and Native American cultures, Susan focuses primarily on her hand-beaded and thread painting creations as of late. Featured in over a dozen art exhibits across the globe, her work has garnered the attention of thousands and has earned several honors, including multiple first-place awards.
To the left is one of Ms. Brown's entries to the 25th Annual Exhibition of Art by Michigan Prisoners; Entitled 'Redeemed' it boasts 347,929 hand-placed beads! Click below to read more or continue scrolling to see additional entries.
