Born in Flint and adopted by a couple in Detroit, MI, Susan identifies as a mother and artist and prefers the pronouns 'she'/'her'. A survivor of domestic violence, she currently resides at the Huron Valley Women’s Correctional Facility in Ypsilanti, MI and is serving a life-sentence for killing her rapist while 30 weeks pregnant.
Intrinsically talented, academically intelligent and an innate self starter, Susan has engaged in many community projects while incarcerated. This page serves as further insight into her humanity and growth as she continues to navigate the U.S criminal justice system.
In December of 2021, Susan addressed the public for the first time since being sentenced to life in prison without with possibility of parole. Currently serving the 19th year of her sentence, Susan asks the public to review current legislations in Michigan regarding the criminal justice system.
